BEEF KABOBS  Posted by Hello
This recipe is adapted from the Beef and Broccoli kabob recipe in the June issue of Better Homes and Gardens. I found the hoisin sauce recipe on the internet. Cade helped me make the sauce. Next time, I will double the sauce recipe and save some to serve with the rice and kabobs.

Hoisin Sauce-recipe follows- (or use 1/2 cup bottled hoisin sauce)
3 T water
2 T olive oil
1 head garlic, minced
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
4 red sweet peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
1.5 pounds sirloin, cut into 1-inch chunks
Hot cooked Rice- I like Basmati rice

1. Alternately thread Beef and sweet pepper on skewers. ( I use stainless steel skewers. If using wooden ones, soak skewers on water for 30 minutes)
2. In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, water, oil, soy sauce, garlic, and crushed red pepper; set aside. Brush Beef and peppers with some of the Hoisin Sauce mixture.
3. Grill for 20 minutes or until desired doneness, turning and brushing with remaining hoisin sauce mixuture halfway through grilling. Serve over hot cooked rice.

Hoisin Sauce:

4 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons peanut butter
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
2 tsp white vinegar
1/8 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp sesame oil ( I used olive oil)
20 drops hot sauce
1/8 tsp black pepper
Directions:
simply mix together. It takes awhile to get it mixed up.
