Loving Thieves Oil

So Excited that my Young Living Kit Arrived Today!! Perfect Timing!  School Just Started and Germs are already spreading.  I had not been sick for over 1 year.  (Until this week) I have been Fighting a Cold since Tuesday.  As soon as the mail man dropped off my Young Living Starter kit this morning, I opened it up and cracked open the Bottle of Thieves.

I placed 1 drop of the Thieves Oil in an 8 ounce glass of water with a pinch of salt.  Gargled this until it was gone.

Thieves Smells wonderful!   I can't wait to use this in my new diffuser.  The Blend has Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalyptus Radiata essential oils in it.    It is a Powerful Essential Oil Blend that may help support healthy immune function and contribute to overall wellness when taken as a dietary supplement.

Fresh Apple Spice Cake

What to do when someone shares fresh apples from their tree- Make Fresh Apple Spice Cake

Smells Wonderful!! Great with ice cream and caramel sauce

1 cup chopped Walnuts
1/2 cup dark rum
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup white sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed
3 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
3/4 cup avocado oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp grated orange zest from 2 oranges
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced into 1/4 inch pieces (3 to 4 apples)
Vanilla Ice cream
Caramel Sauce

Preheat 350 degrees. Grease and Flour 9x13 inch baking pan

Place Walnuts on a baking sheet and toast them for 5 to 10 minutes until lightly toasted. Set aside. Combine the Rum and chopped dates in a small glass bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 60 seconds. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla, and orange zest on medium speed for 3 minutes.  Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves into a medium bowl.  With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, just until combined. Drain the dates, discarding the liquid.  With a rubber spatula, fold in the dates, walnuts, and apples into the batter.  Spread into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Set aside to cool, cut into squares, and serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of warm caramel sauce.

This Cake can be made ahead and stored at room temperature for up to 24 hours.

Mid-Century Painted End Tables

It is hard for me to decide what to do with mid-century furniture that needs some love.   I loved that these end tables were solid wood and very well constructed.  The Tops were a bit worn and were covered with a few water rings..   I decided to keep them simple~ a Couple Coats of one of my favorite colors a grayish blue mineral paint and a simple stencil in a taupe color.   This Color is so similar to Annie Sloan's Duck Egg..
