Cocoa Salt Dough Ornaments

We often have made Salt Dough ornaments or Cinnamon ones at Christmas Time and then decorated them with paint, markers, or even crayons. This year I tried a great recipe for Chocolate Ornaments. They dried very quickly in the oven and when they were finished they very smooth- which makes decorating much easier. They filled the air with Chocolate smells all afternoon. I stamped the works Peace and Joy into a few before baking using a Wilton letterpress set- or make details or letters with a toothpick. I painted them with a pearlized craft paints and then glittered them after they dried.

Cocoa Salt Dough:

2 cups Salt
1 cup Flour
1 cup Cocoa
1 cup warm water

Mix Dry ingredients in a bowl. Add in the warm water a little at a time and mix well until dough is formed. If the Dough is a little too sticky to work with, dust the dough and your hands with cocoa powder. Roll the dough between waxed paper to 1/4 inches thick and cut into shapes. Don't forget to make holes for hanging. Place ornaments on an ungreased baking sheet and Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes.

Cool and decorated as desired.
